  • Producer Concept

    The European Commission presents the first draft of the Directive to minimize the environmental impact of WEEE, promoting recycling and reducing resource consumption. This document introduces the concept of producer responsibility, blaming him for their products when they reach the end of their life cycle.

  • ERP Creation

    ERP is born as the first pan-European waste management system, resulting in the collection and recycling of WEEE. Later, and according to its countries of operation, extended its activity to waste of batteries and accumulators (as in the case of Portugal) and packaging waste.

  • European WEEE Directive

    The European Directive on WEEE is adopted on 27 January 2003. This Directive establishes the principle of extended producer responsibility for the financing of waste management and the creation of incentives for eco-design. The Directive also aims at harmonization of local measures and defining parameters for the management of WEEE, leading to the preservation of resources and promotion of good practices, and avoiding the deposition of waste in landfills.

  • Decree-Law No. 230/2004

    The European Directive on WEEE is transposed into the national legal framework by Decree-Law No. 230/2004 of 10 December. In this document we can find all the definitions and concepts on this issue.

  • Institutiuon of ERP Portugal

    ERP Portugal is instituted on May 13, presenting as founding partners four big companies: Electrolux, Gillette Group (currently Protect & Gamble), Hewlett Packard and Sony.

  • ERP Portugal’s Permit

    At April 27 through a joint order issued by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation and by the  Ministry of Environment, Cities and Land Affairs, ERP Portugal receives the Permit as WEEE compliance scheme.

    The first WEEE collection takes place in Oporto on September 28.

  • ERP Portugal Presentation

    The presentation of ERP Portugal takes place in Lusíada University, on January 16. On this occasion is also signed the cooperation protocol with APED (Portuguese Association of Retailers Companies).

    On July 3, is released Beaches campaign in order to sensitize schools to the issues.

  • This Christmas give a Gift to the Environment

    On December 19, the campaign This Christmas give a Gift to theEnvironment marks the history of ERP Portugal, through waste collection, whose weight was translated in a donation delivered to AMI for the celebration of Christmas in their help centers.

  • Depositrão Generation

    The Depositrão Generation campaign is launched on January 27, in EB1 Vasco Martins School, beginning the partnership with the European Blue Flag Association. This initiative is still in force today (7th edition).

  • WB&A Permit

    The Permit for Waste of Batteries and Accumulators’ management (portable and incorporated in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) was assigned by the Ministry of Environment, Cities and Land Affairs, by the Order No. 3862/2010, of 3 March.
    On November 11, is held the Recyclicng Party to celebrate the recycling of 1 million tonnes of WEEE, in Europe.

  • Azores’ Permit

    On 16 February, ERP Portugal receives the Permit to operate in Azores, by the Order No. 209/2014, given by the Regional Secretary for the Environment and the Sea Issues.
    This year is marked also by the opening of the Environmental Awareness Center (March 17) and the entry into operation of the Iberian Order Fulfillment Center (July 1), based in Portugal.

  • WEEE Permit Extension

    The Permit of ERP Portugal is extended by the Order No. 1650/2012, of 3 February, issued by the Ministry of Environment, Cities and Land Affairs.

  • 2 Million Tonnes of WEEE

    Since February of this year that all ERP countries are celebrating the recycling of 2 million tonnes of WEEE.
    This is equivalent to the collection of 26 million TVs, 45 million of small appliances, 11.5 million of large appliances and 8 million refrigeration equipment.
